The Elephant Trunk, HaRGB
January 10th, 2018
The Elephant trunk is a large hydrogen region in Cepheus, filling almost the entirety of my 200mm frame. The red supergiant Mu Cephei is shown at the top of the nebula. Dark nebulae, called Bok nebulae, dot the nebula, blocking light from behind them.
I re-imaged this target because I was never really satisfied with my bi-color version that I did last year. This is a much better rendition, thanks to the ASI 1600.
